Our majestic building is one of the multiple realizations of Louis-Marie Cordonnier (1854-1940) the biggest architect of the North of his time, to his credit of memorable representative buildings of the region, the Opera and the Chamber of commerce of Lille but also numerous belfries and churches.

The pre-war period is splendor, the economy of the region is prosperous, the North Pas-de-Calais is rich in its coal, The Company of the Mines of Lens is moreover the embodiment there.

He needs a siege in Lille at his measure!

Louis-Marie Cordonnier delivers in 1904 this luxurious neo-classic building to where the council met to fix, among others, the price of the coke for its stock exchange quotation. The coke served to warm the blast furnaces of the metallurgy industry then in its peak.

From coal to stoves there is only a step! Ours keep valuing the wealth of the region by putting in honor of the country, in honor of his respectful producers of the seasons and in honor of their earth through a dynamic card where takes place the user-friendliness of the North!
